Hotel De France

The meat that was cooked properly was really tasty, and the younger waitress was helpful and cheerful. But the host was extremely busy, talking with regular customers while serving us, and seemed not to see us. We waited 1 hour and 15 minutes before we could order. The menu was written on a huge board that they carried from table to table, which looked a bit odd. One steak was ordered medium but arrived nearly raw, then was hurriedly fixed. The other, a 700 gram steak, was mostly bone and fat, and about half of the little meat there was was raw.

The setting and atmosphere were lovely, and the service was great. I had a three course dinner while on holiday and honestly can’t fault it. It may have been the best meal I’ve ever had. Compliments to the family running the place. I hope I get the chance to eat here again someday.

The service was excellent and the meal came at a good pace. I had a midweek three course dinner, with two choices for each course. My only complaint was the rib-eye, which was a bit thin and not very tender.

It’s great having this lovely restaurant so close to home. The meal was superb, and both the magret and lamb shank were excellent.
