Gite la Renouée

We had a great welcome, and the pool was a real treat in this tiny village in the Jurs region. The building is beautiful. Everything worked out perfectly for us, highly recommended.

Our stay was very unpleasant, and we felt badly treated. We had booked a room for two adults and one child while attending a wedding. An unforeseen situation meant my second son had to come home and sleep with us. The website said all children were welcome and that an extra bed was available free on request, so it hadn't occurred to me this might be an issue. I apologized to the owners first thing the next morning and said I understood if there was an extra charge. Instead, they reacted as if it were the end of the world. They spoke to us disrespectfully, said nobody had ever done that to them, that it was unacceptable and improper, and that we should have warned them, even though this happened at 3 a.m. She ended by saying, "You'll be paying for an extra shower, I'm warning you..." We could also hear everything else they said about us from our room. We've never been treated that way before. Then they charged us €30 for one shower. If you're hoping for understanding, helpful, pleasant people, look elsewhere. Run away!

Breakfast was generous and just right for us, and the room and shared areas were spotless. Our room was spacious, and Odile and René were welcoming and helpful. The bathroom hairdryer was a nice extra. The dinner menu was very good, but felt a little expensive for what was served. It also wasn't a set menu in the way we expected: it was more like a restaurant, with each guest at their own table and the owners eating at another time. One other annoyance was the bathroom motion-sensor light. It switched off during my shower, so I had to get out to turn it back on.

The pool and garden were well cared for, and the local food was excellent. The accommodation was beautiful, and the managers were very pleasant. We were completely satisfied.
