The host was really kind and helpful, and the room was huge. Its shower was up a floor, inside one of the manor’s towers, which made it quite something. There’s an outdoor pool, a pool table, sports equipment and a jacuzzi too. The house is very noisy, though. We could hear every word from the room next door, and toilet paper has to go in a bin instead of being flushed. Meals are shared around one table with all the guests, so there’s no spacing. We found that awkward, and could tell other guests did too. The owner had told us on arrival that he didn’t believe in Corona, so nobody wore masks.

The place itself is lovely and tastefully refurbished, with several bedrooms, little bungalows and a spa with an outdoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and hammam. But our visit through a gifted Wonderbox voucher was a real disappointment. When I called to book the rhassoul clay treatment, the owner said the voucher couldn’t be used as offered and that my husband and I had to pay another 25€ each to enter the spa. We later found out spa entry costs 15€ when you’ve bought a treatment, as we had. So we paid 50€ instead of 30€, a 20€ difference. It felt like a swindle, especially since we were already paying extra for a supposed gift. Whatever the upkeep costs or need for visitors, a price is a price. We were charged outrageously for something that was far from unforgettable. The treatment itself was tedious, with at least three showers required, before, during and after. The rhassoul was spread in a very, very thin layer, nothing like the proper body wrap we expected, and neither of us felt any benefit. The woman who did it was friendly, but the treatment was useless.

The Oriental room was beautiful, and the surroundings were so peaceful. We were the only two guests, and our host gave us lots of information about things to do nearby. We had an excellent dinner by a welcoming fireplace in early March. Breakfast was perfect too, with pastries, fresh fruit, homemade fruit juices and delicious jams. A lovely mix of warmth and professionalism from the welcome onward. We’ll happily come back.

The view was charming, but the night was miserable. Flies kept banging against the skylight, and the flypaper on the ceiling was already covered in flies and hadn’t been changed. The manor is old-fashioned, which I can accept, but it’s clearly not maintained. We asked for drinks on the terrace and got two damp chairs and a rusty table. When we asked for water, they brought a carafe without glasses, as if we should sort it out ourselves. We felt like a nuisance, and the staff paid no attention to us. The welcome had been curt too: just “Hello, you booked a room, that’ll be such and such.” After one night, I can’t call this acceptable at that price.

The wellness area was pleasant, and the setting was lovely. We had a very comfortable room for our one-night stay, plus an excellent meal and breakfast. They welcomed us so warmly. Thanks for everything, we’d be glad to return.
