Logis Hôtel la Maison Carrée

We were only stopping during a road trip, but the receptionist suggested visiting Nancy if we still had the energy. We went, and it was absolutely worth it. I'm glad she mentioned it. The area around the hotel is pleasant for a relaxing walk too, and it's worth taking the few extra kilometres off the highway to stay here. It's a lovely little place with a cosy interior. Our standard room had a medium-sized tub that was good for a bath without needing to fill it with too much water. The toilet was separate from the bathroom, which was handy. Comfortable beds, linen and pillows, and the WiFi was good!!!!

The rooms can get quite warm after a sunny day. There was a fan, though these days air conditioning would be preferable. We ate on the terrace since it was warm out. The restaurant menu was limited, but the food was simple and good quality. Breakfast was fairly basic, with fresh croissants and other good-quality food. The hotel itself is cosy and original, the staff were friendly, and the pool was nice for cooling off after a day of driving.

There was plenty of space in the room, but the beds were too short and the blanket much too thick and hot. Having to shower while standing in the bathtub was uncomfortable, especially since there was nowhere on the wall to hang the shower head. The toilet was very narrow too. Taken together, I don't think this hotel deserves three stars.

The room felt very dated, and the only part that looked like the Booking.com pictures was reception. It was pricey for the state of the room and the underwhelming facilities. We had booked breakfast, but after all the other disappointments we decided not to stay. There was hair in the bath and under the rim of the spit cup in the bathroom (photo included). The restaurant was closed, the pool closed earlier than stated, the bathroom tap was loose from the wall, and the WiFi didn't work. The toilet door was so small you had to get down on your knees to use it. There was no air conditioning and the fan wasn't good. We were two adults in a double room but had only one bath towel.
