Hôtel L'Eterlou

We really enjoyed the outdoor heated pool, and parking was convenient. The breakfasts were good, and the à la carte restaurant was very good. Great hotel in a perfect spot, with really friendly staff. We'll be back ❤️

The food and service were excellent, and nothing felt like too much trouble for the staff. We stayed half board, with two choices each for starters, mains, and desserts, plus a cocktail of the day. The menu had plenty of choice and was very good quality. We'd read a recent review saying the staff don't like English, but we had the opposite experience. They were happy to help when we tried speaking a little French or asked how to say something. The barman was especially helpful. We spent a week here skiing and can't fault the room, facilities, food, service, or staff attitude. I couldn't believe this was only a three-star hotel. It's in a great location, we had a fantastic stay, and we'll definitely return.

The reception team tried to help, and the barmen were good. The lunch and dinner were quite good too. Beyond that, our stay was deeply disappointing. This was our first and last time, and I would call it a two-star hotel. Don't book it just for the location, you may regret it. The room was very small, hot, and had no ventilation or window. We had to leave the terrace door open at night for fresh air. It was hard to move around, the bed was small, and the shower was low and cramped. My husband couldn't fit comfortably. If you're over 1.90 cm, I wouldn't book, as you may not fit in the room. There was an electrical leak in the room. I got shocks and saw a blue light with a loud sound. We told reception, and their technician checked it with a small testing device and saw it too. I'm pregnant, and I was scared to stay there, but nobody helped because the hotel was full. The director wouldn't even look us in the face to apologize, then disappeared from reception. He wouldn't offer another room even after we said we didn't feel safe, especially for me and the baby. My husband had hurt his shoulder and asked for ice. They had no first aid kit, just gave him some ice wrapped in a napkin. I don't think the hotel takes safety seriously. Breakfast wasn't international, with no tomatoes or salad. The scrambled egg was mixed in with the boiled eggs, there was no fresh tea, and it was the same small selection every day. The spa was tiny, and the pool wasn't warm enough or clean. The hotel director's guest service was terrible.

My room was a little noisy at night, maybe because it was near the boilers. I didn't ask to move since I had earplugs, but I needed to get up for a 4 am transfer and worried I might sleep through my alarm if I wore them. The staff were great, polite, and very helpful. My room was fine and clean. Breakfast worked well for me, with eggs, bacon, croissants, and a range of meats, cheese, breads, and cereals. The restaurant food was good too. The location is ideal for skiing at Meribel, and close to the bars and restaurants for après ski, including La Folie Douce. Ski hire is yards away, and the nearby shops had very reasonable, friendly people.
