The room was laid out nicely, and it was cleaned very well. They brought freshly filtered water each day, and the staff were incredibly friendly. La Tabletterie was lovely, though really very expensive.

We stumbled across this place while touring the area, and it turned out to be the best hotel we stayed at. The rooms and staff were amazing.

We picked it for the handy spot near the A16 on our way back to Calais, and it may become a regular stop for us. There’s plenty of parking, the rooms are tasteful and well equipped, and the restaurant is good. They’re very welcoming to dogs, too. The old factory has been converted beautifully. Meru was the centre of the mother of pearl industry, and you can visit the museum next door from 2.30 to 6.30pm.

The museum next door is well worth seeing, and I think we’ll return to the hotel. It’s clean and comfortable, with friendly staff. I like that they speak to you in French and give you a chance to practise. The old factory building has been turned into an interesting, modern space in a way that still suits it.

It’s a bit isolated, but the hotel is pleasant and clean, and the service and food are good. A handy base if you’re planning to go hill walking in the area.
