The courtyard-facing room was quiet at night, and the room itself was clean and tidy. They’d left water for me as well. We ate at the restaurant each evening and had breakfast there too. Dinner changed a bit each night, with French dishes. I tried a fish dish every time, and it was tasty and very good. The staff were friendly and helpful when we asked what to see nearby. The hotel is in a small town, close to the lake. Breakfast may not be what you expect if you’re coming from North America, but there was a good selection: cheeses, meats, some yogurt, and a coffee machine that made a good double espresso, the only thing I tried. I’d recommend this hotel if you’re staying in the area.

The food was fine, but I still don’t understand why the chef spent 20 minutes talking to us about his unusual political views on the decline of European civilization. Everyone at the table looked uncomfortable and wanted him to leave.

The wine selection was good, though it comes at a price. We tried the mid-range option, and the food was good with great service. It’s a popular spot with people from Troyes, and the location is great, just a few kilometers from the lake. I haven’t tried the spa, though people say it’s really good. More foreigners seem to be coming now too. The accommodation may not be the best, but it’s good enough for groups and functions.

The room was simple but satisfactory, and the hotel itself is charming. Some of the staff speak English well. In summer, our double room cost more than twice the listed price of 76 Euro, making it the most expensive place in town. The air conditioning didn’t work at night for some reason, and the room got close to 30 degrees. I woke up sweating at 4am. The TV remote didn’t work either. It was probably just the batteries, but at those prices I expected everything to be in perfect shape.
