Campanile NATURE - Metz Technopôle

The location is good, the service was OK, and breakfast was fine, but the restaurant menu was limited. The hotel feels very tired and needs serious work. In the first room they offered, the door wouldn’t open all the way and I cut my hand trying. The lock in the second room was so stiff the door wouldn’t close. Luckily I had WD40 with me and managed to loosen it. The bathroom was poor, with the usual Campanile issue of no sink plug, and noise from another room was bad. It was just about adequate for a quick overnight stay. Campanile needs to raise its game and get back to how it used to be.

My car was broken into at the door, and things were stolen from inside. That made my experience here very unpleasant. The hotel's security camera recording is poor quality. The room and service were fine for a three-star hotel, everything worked as it should. Make sure you have secure parking.

There’s plenty of parking, and the room has a large desk that’s handy if you need to use a laptop. The storage cabinets have lots of space for belongings. At the restaurant I had the risotto and dessert buffet. There were many dessert choices, and they were delicious.

The price was fair, and the receptionists were friendly and professional. We had clean sheets, a clean mattress, towels, and a quiet stay while we were there. The place is a bit shabby and could use some care, especially outside. The car park isn’t fenced, and although there was a kettle, there were no cups. We only realized after reception had closed. We also had to make up the beds ourselves. It was handy that booking and cancellation were easy, since you never know how far you’ll get on a long drive across France. We’ve stayed at similarly simple, convenient places before that felt less shabby. We drove a short way into town to eat, but the historic center was disappointing because an unpleasant smell of stale pee seemed to hang around.
