ibis budget Metz Technopole

We picked the hotel for its location and electric car charging, but found a note on the front door when we arrived saying the only charger was broken. That was too late and threw off our travel schedule. The place felt dated and uncomfortable, and not well looked after. The toilet seat wobbled, while the door banged loudly whenever it opened or shut. There were three of us, and we had to make the top bed ourselves because only the bottom two were prepared. Not what we wanted to deal with after arriving late.

The room was clean and had most of what we needed, but the experience was maybe two or three stars. The bathroom setup was strange; I get that it saves space, but I'd much rather have a separate room for it. Breakfast was okay, about 3.5/5. The options were limited but good quality, though the juice took forever to pour. There was no hairdryer in the room. Reception had just one for the whole hotel, so in a large group, if someone takes it in the morning, you can forget about drying your hair.

This is a budget hotel, and that's what you get. It was clean, warm, and had free parking. But I couldn't find the breakfast hours online or anywhere else. At check-in, the receptionist told me breakfast ran from 7 to 10 on normal days and until 10:30 on holidays. After a hard day's work, I got back late and chose to go down at 9:30 so I could rest. The buffet was completely empty, and another receptionist said breakfast ended at 9:30. I had no way to check what I'd first been told. I'd already had a long road trip with extremely tight timing that day, so I was furious at having to go hungry and look for somewhere else to eat.

We stayed one night and thought it was good value. The room was clean, the water pressure was strong, the internet was fast, and I liked that the shower and toilet were separate. Staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was great. The room was as expected, but the shower door let water splash onto the floor, and there was no bath towel. That wasn't a big deal for us, though the wet floor could get slippery if you're not careful. They should at least provide a bath towel.
