The breakfast set me up for the next 150km of my 1200km bike packing trip. I stayed at the Soleil d'Or, where the host made me feel very welcome and my bike was kept safely in the cellar. The room was clean and comfortable, and dinner was generous. It's a great base for cycling or trail running in a beautiful region, and I absolutely recommend it.

The rooms were decent, but I won't stay here again. We arrived an hour late, at 9pm, and the host was very annoyed. We apologized in English, but he wouldn't speak anything but French. I think he understood German and English, though he didn't seem willing to make the effort to help us. We asked if we could have a beer at the bar, which the website said was open until 11pm, but he simply refused to serve us.

The lunch set menu was tasty and carefully made, and a glass of locally produced wine made it even more of a treat. This is a real gem in the foothills of the Vosges. The hotel's owner waited on us and was charming in English, German, and French.

The restaurant and food were fantastic, and the chef had a great comic act. I just wish I spoke French so I could enjoy it fully. The room was basic, clean, and spacious, with a very good shower. It's motorcycle friendly too.
