Hôtel Forest Hill Paris Meudon-Vélizy

We booked two deluxe rooms for our family of four for a week. We hadn’t even asked for connecting rooms, but they were joined, which was a lovely surprise. They were spacious, with great bathrooms, big TVs and a good selection of regular and sports channels. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. The restaurant served a good steak, and breakfast was a decent buffet. The hotel is clean and lovely, and I’d definitely call it four-star. A lot of the poor reviews seem to be about the standard rooms being small, but you can see their size when you book, so complaining afterward about a 12m square room seems silly. The location was excellent, about 15 minutes by Uber from the city centre and right by the tram station. There are forest walks and a sports centre nearby, and the shopping centre across the road has a great range of shops and food. The pool and gym were both excellent. The main downside was the service. Staff generally weren’t very friendly, and getting service by the pool was nearly impossible. That seemed like the usual Parisian attitude, though, and it didn’t bother us much. All in all, a great stay, and I’d go back in a heartbeat.

The rooms are on the small side, but well kept and equipped. Breakfast had plenty of variety and was delicious. The staff were welcoming and kind, and the service was good.

Everything else was perfect, and the staff were very friendly. One day, though, there was only one person at reception. He was on what was probably a customer call for almost 10 minutes while I waited at the desk, and he wasn’t very helpful afterward. The woman who gave me the key was friendly and supportive.

I’m not sure how they call this a four-star hotel. Three stars at best. The rooms were small and bare, and our foam mattress was lopsided. The breakfast buffet was a real letdown. The pool was nice, though, and the gym was decent for a hotel, with dumbbells, a Smith machine, cable machine, treadmills and one elliptical. Unfortunately, you couldn’t use the dumbbells until gym staff arrived, around 5 p.m.
