We stayed in La Campanule at Le Jardin des Amis during the Whitsun holidays in 2026. The gîte is beautiful and very well equipped, with air conditioning, a hot tub, and a BBQ. The heated pool is clean and great, with sun loungers and umbrellas, and the lovely grounds have lots for kids to do. The new owners, who took over in June 2025, are lovely and responsive. Meyrals is a handy base for river activities and sightseeing around the Dordogne valley. There are good supermarkets and markets within a 15-minute drive, plus the fantastic local restaurant La Merenda, just an 8-minute walk away. I highly recommend staying here. I couldn’t fault it.

I’ve stayed at Le Jardin des Amis many times over the past 10 years, in most of the gîtes and one of the newer studios. Sue and Jon have always been so welcoming and hospitable. The accommodation is finished to a very high standard, and the facilities have added a lot to each stay, especially the fabulous pool, outdoor bar, and BBQ area. The village’s family-run restaurant has set menus that are incredible value, and the surrounding area is second to none. It’s a relaxed place to stay and a great base for touring the Dordogne.

Our gîte was just right, and our dog Arnie was made to feel welcome too. Sue and John were friendly and welcoming, knew the area well, and keep a fantastic facility. We had a lovely time at Le Jardin des Amis. It’s ideally located for exploring the Dordogne, and hard to imagine a better place for a holiday.

This terrace of five gîtes and two self-contained flats has a pool and sits in an idyllic part of the Dordogne. It’s a great place to relax away from the crowds, or head out to see the local château and castles. Add the local wine, food, and cheese, and for me it makes a perfect holiday.
