Hôtel de La Ferme Lamy

We came for six nights in June to explore the nearby towns and caves. The hotel was so peaceful, and our room stayed like a cool little haven despite the heat. Breakfast and the owner’s home-cooked dinners were a real pleasure, and the owner was a wonderful host.

Our bedroom was the best of the various hotels we stayed in, though the pillows could have been better. We arrived with two bikes, and the owners were happy to accommodate us. They’re such sweet, helpful people and made the evening even nicer. We had a great time and hope to return.

The warm, gracious hospitality from the new owners, Fatima and Arnaud Paulliac, was what we appreciated most. We didn’t have time to enjoy the lovely infinity pool or linger on the dining patio overlooking the rolling Périgord fields, and wished we had. La Ferme Lamy is a lovely old 17th-century farmhouse, repurposed with a lot of rustic charm. Its stone-walled rooms are roomy and the beds are comfortable. It’s peaceful, away from Sarlat’s tourist traffic, while still close to everything. We’d certainly come back if we get the chance. An excellent hotel.

The hosts are the loveliest people, and the food is exquisite. It’s a beautiful base for seeing the region’s best spots, while the setting itself lets you get away from the noise and distractions of modern life. Just what we wanted.
