ibis Styles Lyon Meyzieu Arena Stadium

Parking was easy, with spaces available. The AC wasn't working very well. The hotel was okay, but didn't feel like an Ibis Style; at best, it seemed to qualify as an Ibis Budget. It could use a refurbishment.

The biggest problem was Saturday afternoon check-in. It took over half an hour because there was only ONE employee on duty, and issues with people at the front of the queue held everyone else up. Online check-in didn't save time, and before long the line stretched to the parking lot. With an arena concert and a game at Groupama stadion that day, management should have had more than one person working. It was a nightmare for the receptionist and for guests waiting for their keys. I chose the hotel for its proximity to the LDLC arena. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable, and being able to open the window was a big plus. There were signs of wear, especially in the bathroom. Breakfast was included and high quality.

The staff were wonderful, always friendly and ready to answer questions or suggest places to go. Thanks to everyone, including reception and the room cleaning team. We came for a Rammstein rock concert and the hotel is brilliantly placed for Groupama stadium, just a 10-minute walk away, so getting back after the show was easy while the other 60,000 fans had to take their car or wait for a tram. Book well ahead: for concert night, the hotel had a last-minute offer from 700 Euros per night, an amount I'd never seen on an Ibis panel. The room was simple, with no safe, fridge or real wardrobe, but clean, and the bed was large and very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious, modern and nice. With the window open on hot summer nights, the nearby highway made it really noisy. Getting downtown is straightforward: a 10-minute walk to the tram, then 10 minutes on the tram and 15 minutes on the metro. To reach the airport, it's a 15-minute walk to Meyzieu main station, then 2 minutes on the tram and 10 minutes on the RhoneExpress train. Booking the RhoneExpress ticket online ahead saves about 1 Euro. There's a wonderful, giant natural parc nearby, around a 10-minute walk. I'd recommend walking to the seaside restaurant "TIKI au bord de l'eau" and heading east along the water for a lovely walk or bike ride. There are good restaurants next to the Ibis too: we tried the excellent Catalan place, "La Boqueria - Restaurant Catalan & Bar à tapas à Meyzieu", and Leon, a Brussels-style restaurant, which was also very good.
