Le Gardon is beautiful, the pool is nice to have, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Our cat was welcome for an extra fee, and the restaurant and grocery shop were convenient, though pretty expensive. I’m an early riser, and the campsite was calm and peaceful when I walked around at 8. The weather was nice too. Sadly, those good points couldn’t make up for the rest. This used to feel like my own little paradise, but it’s now one of the worst campsites I’ve stayed at, and I won’t be back. If you enjoy late entertainment, you might have a much better time here. We wanted somewhere beautiful to unwind and enjoy ourselves, but the constant blasting music was so loud that sometimes we couldn’t even hear each other. The entertainment and parties went on until 11:30 every night, with loud music during the day as well. We were near the entertainment field, though parties also happened by the restaurant and pool, so I’m not sure another pitch would have helped. My partner and I kept wondering if the volume had gone up again. We couldn’t sleep before midnight, and earplugs didn’t block the music or drums. At night, people also shouted and screamed without considering their neighbors. On many campsites there’s a quiet rule after 11, but that didn’t seem to be the case here. If the music hadn’t kept us awake, the neighbors did. The toilets had no seats, which may be more typical in France, but the small edges were uncomfortable for me. I found pee on them every time, sometimes a lot of it. By the end, I’d rather pick one with poop marks because it felt cleaner. I did see people cleaning, so maybe it was a combination of not enough cleaning for such a big site and the behavior of some campers. Our pitch was mostly bare, with lots of tree roots, including some sharp ones sticking out. The roots meant we could only put the tent one way. We covered the sharp spots with cloth so they wouldn’t pierce the groundsheet or hurt our feet. The car had to go on the pitch, leaving about 1.5 meters between it and the tent, and the roots made it hard to arrange chairs or a table. I’d hoped to sit on a picnic blanket, but that wasn’t really possible. Everything also got dirty quickly because of the sand. We ended up leaving three days earlier than planned and, as I’d expected, didn’t get the money back for those days. Still, it was disappointing.

There’s plenty of shade and the pitches are spacious, with beautiful surroundings all around. Our kids, aged 4 and 6, had a great time in the pools, and the campsite shop was good. Live music played several nights a week, but it wasn’t too loud. A very nice campsite.

Some pitches are great, while others are just terrible. The pool was nice, but far too crowded. With so many mobile homes, I think the place draws a different kind of camping crowd, and that’s made what used to be a friendly campsite feel like a packed, overheated compound. The staff managing all the tight rules weren’t friendly. I won’t visit again.

I wouldn’t recommend it at all if you want to enjoy your vacation.

The food was good and the service was excellent. There’s no Wi-Fi, though.
