We only booked one night, but as soon as we arrived we couldn’t bring ourselves to leave, so we stayed three more. The hosts are welcoming and lovely, the food they make is delicious, and the room is just right with everything you need. You can relax there or head out hiking, and it’s right by the river with lots to do nearby. Book more than one night ahead if you can, since they’re usually full. This place is magical, and you won’t regret it. Best place in the whole world! Don’t think twice.

Seven of us stayed at Gite Le Cambon, and all seven of us plan to return. It was the highlight of our hike. The setting is fantastic, with nature that feels both wild and gentle, and a real sense of peace. You slow down and feel more like yourself here. The host is unusually generous, welcoming, and trusting. It’s a perfect place for adults who want a quiet break and a comfortable bed.

After a day hiking the Stevenson Trail, arriving at the Gîte du Cambon was such a joy. We could cool off in the bath while looking out at the beautiful landscape, then relax in the common room with its big selection of books. There were delicious meals, drinks available, a cozy comfortable room, and such kind hosts. We’re looking forward to coming back.

If I could give it 10 out of 5, I would. We spent two nights resting while hiking the GR70 and exploring the area, and for us this was the most relaxing stop on the Stevenson Trail. The location is wonderful, both for the trail and in general, with grazing sheep and llamas and incredibly beautiful, peaceful buildings. Lizou and Flo have put a colossal amount of work into restoring the farmhouse, with thoughtful little details, recycled objects, and clever ideas everywhere. Their family is inspiring.
