Huttopia Millau

We stayed in a roulotte, a shepherd’s hut, and it had everything we needed. The staff were great, and the river was lovely for swimming and playing. With mature trees providing shade and a calm, friendly atmosphere, the site feels peaceful, yet town is an easy walk away.

We had a really quiet few days here, even over a public holiday weekend. The campsite team worked hard to make everyone’s stay enjoyable, and the natural setting was perfect for taking my campervan. I even spotted my first vulture flying off the cliffs above!

The site has its own access to the river Tarne, and there’s a pool, small playground, and meeting center for children. Staff were very friendly, quick to reply to emails, and always ready to help. Most tent pitches were fairly flat, and lots of the campsite is shaded by trees. It’s also close to Millau, a lovely French city with plenty to see, from its historic center to a 24-hour McDonald’s for anyone who likes that. As a couple, we weren’t keen on the evening entertainment by the pool and restaurant, since it could get quite loud. That’s just our preference.

The sanitary facilities were excellent, with lots of hot water, and the heated pool area was pleasant. It’s a peaceful riverside campsite within easy walking distance of Millau. There are plenty of trees, though some pitches slope, so pick yours carefully. A small bar and food wagon are on site, but they’re not always open, especially in low season. The Millau viaduct is amazing and worth seeing.
