Nearly three hours passed, and it felt like a lovely experience rather than just dinner with good friends. The owners are wonderful hosts, and you arrive as guests but leave as friends. The setting is beautiful, with so much care and thought in every detail. I'm genuinely a fussy eater, so I was surprised to love every course. It was the best dinner I've had by far, and it's worth taking your time to soak up the ambience and enjoy the superb food. Ask Jean Claude whether you can look through his books showing the Hotel before its restoration. They make it clear how much love and effort the family put into bringing it back to its former glory.

We went for a family birthday lunch, and the Armagnac tasting outdoors on the bench will stay with me. Jean Claude and his 3 daughters are so welcoming, and you can tell they want their customers to be happy. The plates and drinks are generous, with quality traditional south west food. The location is peaceful and beautiful, extraordinary really. This place is fantastic and well worth a visit. Book your seats ahead. In Mirande, Gers , chez Jean Claude Ste Marie

Dinner with the family was a fantastic experience. The traditional French cooking has a contemporary touch and is done to a very high standard. It's run with family flair, in a warm and friendly way. I highly recommend it.

The welcome was every bit as lovely as the place, warm, simple, and genuine. I discovered this magnificent guesthouse on a business trip and immediately felt at home. Its modern architecture fits perfectly while keeping the charm and authenticity of the original building. The cuisine deserves a special mention too, with excellent ingredients prepared carefully. I recommend it without hesitation. If you're in the area, don't miss it.
