ibis Budget Caen Mondeville

It's a useful stop if you're driving south from the Caen ferry. The place is basic, clean and comfortable, with a good shower and a comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet is simple but worth the price. A good overnight stop, and you can leave in the morning feeling refreshed for the next day.

The area is beautiful, and the location feels family friendly. There were lovely plants and flowers at the entrance, and I enjoyed the messages on some of the doors. Our room was very clean and had indirect lighting. There's a shopping center next door with a playground for children. A great stop for our family.

It was cheap, and the staff were nice. Breakfast was okay, and the hotel was handy for travelling. I chose it because check-in was available until midnight. But I didn't sleep well: the pillows were thin, the mattress was hard, the room was too hot, and the green lights couldn't be switched off. The road was loud with the window open. I missed having a kettle in the room, and building work blocked the path, so I had to walk all the way around the building with my dog and bags.

A hassle-free place to stay while travelling, with a free car park, clean rooms and welcoming staff. The downside is that the partition walls and ceilings are very thin, so noisy guests can be heard.
