Alliey & Spa

The pool was a major reason I booked this for our family, so it was a real letdown to find it closed for some “issue” the whole time we were there. Aside from that, we thought the property was a great choice. The apartment-style rooms were clean, well laid out, and seemed new, and there was a nice lounge and bar. The big, warm jacuzzi was enjoyable, though I would have liked it hotter. Breakfast was terrific for those who chose to have it. I appreciated that the owners were friendly and on site, and I like supporting family-run businesses. I’d recommend it to people visiting Monetier-Les-Bains / Serre Chevalier.

The Alps view from my room was a lovely surprise. The staff were really nice, and the facilities were clean and well put together. It went beyond what I expected. Awesome!

The whole visit was a letdown. My husband had surprised me with a massage at Alliey & Spa, and they suggested booking in the morning because afternoons would be noisy and busy. But the pool was closed when I arrived, and the hammam wasn’t running because they only turn it on at 16:30. Nobody had told us those facilities were closed in the morning, which felt dishonest and unfair. The massage itself was ridiculous and not enjoyable. It felt like being patted, and she started with my foot before touching my neck and head. I have no idea where she trained.

I live in Monetier and wanted to support a local business, but I was very disappointed with this spa. I booked massages and spa access for my wife and a friend, and was told mornings were quieter. It seems that’s because nothing is working then: the hammam and sauna aren’t heated until 4.30pm, and the pool is as cold as the Guisane. I can’t comment on the hotel itself, but I’d absolutely avoid the spa. Such a shame, since local owners usually offer great value. This is a definite no-go.
