Camping Sous Doriat

The road was the downside for us. Our tent pitch backed onto it, and cars sometimes went fast while two-stroke motorbikes passed at all hours. There were nicer pitches looking out over the countryside and away from traffic, though they seemed to go to motorhomes on shorter stays. Ours was spacious, had electricity and some shade. We spent six nights in June, when occupancy seemed around 50 percent. The facilities were dated, but the toilets, showers and washing area were spotless and well kept, with good water pressure and hot water. The pool was lovely and cleaned each morning, and the Wi-Fi was super fast throughout. There's a little shop and bar we didn't try, a village shop two minutes away on foot, and a hypermarket about a ten-minute drive away. The campsite is well placed for exploring the Jura Hills.

The staff were really friendly, and we had a good stay in 2021. There are large pitches with some shade and lovely views along the edge, plus a nice pool and a shop within walking distance. The sanitary facilities were a bit dated, but fine. There was an occasional local market at the campsite. It can get crowded in August.

There’s a great store just a five-minute walk away, and you can even stop for a pint before heading back. The campsite itself was peaceful, with clean facilities and friendly, helpful staff.

This is all right for a night or two, but I wouldn't want to stay longer. There's no river or lake right beside the campsite, though Lac de Chalain is nearby. I didn't find the staff very nice, and they spoke little English.
