Breakfast after a good night's sleep was a dream: the table was practically bending under all the croissants, bread, and local yogurt. The owner, a lovely former business manager, even encouraged me to take food along for my hike, so I didn't have to worry about eating that day. The hygiene standards were excellent given the current sanitary situation. I was walking the Stevenson Trail and was lucky to find a room free at the Relais de Modestine when I booked that morning, passing through the lovely village of Chasserades. This was one of the best things that happened to me on the whole hike.

Our room upstairs was delightful, bright, clean, nicely decorated, and had a very comfortable mattress. The bathroom was spotless and the Wi-Fi worked well. There's no TV in the room, but downstairs there's a comfortable lounge with one. After walking the Stevenson, this was a lovely stopover. While waiting for 3.30pm, you can leave your pack and boots in Gigi and Patrice's sunroom. There's a table, Scrabble, and magazines, though no food is allowed. Dinner with our hosts was tasty, especially Gigi's cooking. Breakfast was very good, and the supplied picnic lunch was plentiful. Chesserades is charming, and its church is simple and very special. We highly recommend a night at Le Relais de Modestine.

The food was very good, and the hosts made us feel at home with their friendly welcome. Everything was beautifully furnished. A great place to stay on the Stevenson Trail!

Our companion donkey Popeye had a wonderfully grassy enclosure here during our trip, and Laurent and Stéphanie welcomed him and us so warmly 😄. We loved their company at a delicious dinner, and their advice for visiting Chasseradès was excellent. There's a cozy lounge with a bar, books, comics, and music. A big thank you for all the kindness, and for the commitment to responsible, sustainable hospitality and healthy local food 👌🙏

We aren't hikers, so we stayed several nights in a row. That gave us a chance to appreciate how well Laurent and Stéphanie organize things, as well as the cleanliness and comfort of the place. The food, made with local products, was excellent. Our hosts were friendly, attentive, and very welcoming.
