Hotel La Remise

It’s a nice place, but this left a bad taste. I said I’d pay for the drinks at our table, then paid at the bar. Later I learned one of my friends had already paid for that same round. Maybe it was an honest mistake, but the server seemed hesitant at first, which made me wonder if it was deliberate. Being overcharged for a few euros is just sad. Not nice at all.

The dining room felt warm and sociable, and dinner was fantastic. Breakfast was very good too. After a long day on the Stevenson Trail, this was a welcome place to stop, with a friendly bar and a lovely town. The staff efficiently arranged a second-floor room beside the La Malle Postal baggage drop-off. It was a bit dated, but had what we needed and a large bathroom. The mattress, though, was old and had a big dip. I’d recommend the hotel, but not room 9’s mattress.

The restaurant food was very good, and the service was friendly. Our room was nice and had a decent shower. Nothing to complain about.

The home cooking is outstanding, and you can tell the locals eat here. Ordering is tricky if you don’t speak French. The staff try hard to help, though they had trouble with the drinks.
