The pool kept the kids happy, and we even spotted a deer and squirrels among the trees in the garden. We spent three nights at Chateau Montabert, where the hosts were so accommodating. Everything was spotless, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was simple but just right. Troyes and Lac D’Orient are worth seeing, and the setting itself felt magical. A memorable beginning to our holiday. We’d love to come back someday!

We arrived at noon with our small baby and only then learned that the property was closed until 4:30pm. With nothing to do nearby, no place to walk, and no supermarket or restaurant within 2km, we had nowhere to go for those 4.5 hours. The property wall was in such rough condition that we couldn't even make out the boundaries, and there were no nearby activities either. We asked the host to cancel our two rooms and refund the fees. She said she would lose money because other guests could no longer book them, but when we checked Booking.com, at least three rooms were still available. After she realized she couldn't reason with us, she refused to speak with us. We're reporting this to the police because we consider it serious misrepresentation.

The estate around the chateau was lovely to walk through, and the location was handy for Troyes and Lac d'Auzon. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The owners made us feel welcome, and breakfast was great. A great place to stay near Troyes.

The gardens and pool were lovely, and it was a peaceful setting for an overnight stay. A beautiful building.

I messaged Vanessa and David just minutes after booking to explain that I'd accidentally reserved the day after the date I meant to book. They didn't have availability on my intended date. Even after I explained the mistake and asked politely several times, they wouldn't return my €62.70 deposit. How disappointing.
