The pool was a pleasant bonus, and the location worked really well for exploring the Riviera. Montauroux is inland, but the main coastal towns like Cannes, Saint-Raphaël, Fréjus, and Saint-Tropez were about an hour away. Lake Saint-Cassien, Sillans-la-Cascade, the Verdon Gorge, Montauroux center, and the Fayence market were also close by. For an affordable summer stay on the French Riviera, that’s a real advantage. This was our second family summer holiday here, and Frédéric, the residence manager, made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. He was always smiling, attentive, friendly, and available. The complex itself is pleasant and good value, so I’d recommend it and will probably return. A few things could use attention, though. The houses have dated decor, and the equipped kitchens were missing some basic items like spoons and can openers. The pool and houses both seemed a bit outdated.

The housekeeping was shameful. The apartment was so filthy that my children's socks turned black, and I had to clean them up straight away. I’ve never rented such a disgusting place. Also, when I said I was busy and didn’t want repairs done right then, the maintenance man kept insisting on doing them immediately. I said no, not now, but he wouldn’t let it go.

There are plenty of outdoor activities nearby, including hiking and mountain biking, and you can even ride to the lake. A car is essential, though. There are village festivals and markets, and Fréjus is about 30 minutes away by car. Our 14-day stay in House 12 was a real letdown. We’d rented a house for eight with air conditioning in the living room, but it was broken when we arrived and never fixed, even during a heatwave. Reception could only offer what they had: a noisy portable unit we couldn’t use at night, then two fans later in the week. The house needs a proper refresh. There was mold in the upstairs bathroom, no smoke detector, an empty pitch, and no shovel, bucket, or mop. Reception brought those items only after we asked. The pool was in much the same condition. Some coping stones were marked as damaged, and the safety barriers looked improvised. There are 42 bastides but only 10 miserable deckchairs, though eight more were added during our stay. Every morning someone poured a container into the pool, apparently at staff or owners’ discretion. I can only hope the pH is checked daily. The residence may have a four-star rating, but it feels like four stars in name only. Reception, maintenance, and cleaning staff do try to help guests with the means they have.
