The welcome wine was a lovely touch, and the hosts were exceptionally friendly and always happy to help. Our room was large, quiet, and had everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious, especially the homemade fig jam and café au lait. We were in Montcaret for the Tour de France time trial, then visited Libourne and St. Emilion. St. Emilion was wonderful, with its restaurants, wine, light show, pipes and drums, and the short drives through the Bordeaux and St. Emilion vineyards were beautiful.

I've stayed here twice through Airbnb and have enjoyed it both times. It's a cozy little haven in the Dordogne, with welcoming owners and a park where I liked walking my dog in the mornings. Montcaret (24) is well placed between the Périgord region and the ocean, with plenty to see nearby. I recommend it.

The place itself is beautiful, but our gîte had been given to other people before we arrived because they had the wrong place to stay. The manager hadn't checked the name on the reservation. No one offered us breakfast or told us when we needed to leave the room.
