We arrived to find the entrance gate locked, with no code or phone number to contact the host directly. We’d only been given the option of messaging through Booking.com, but the WiFi signal outside the gate was too weak to connect. The doorbell and intercom didn’t seem to work either. We could see someone in the main house, but banging on the gate and shouting got no response for 10 minutes. Eventually the host came over, without much urgency, and showed little sympathy. “I was working in the house. I had the electricity switched off.” So of course the doorbell couldn’t work. There was no apology for leaving us locked out with no way to get in touch. He knew guests were coming, so switching off our only way to reach him was baffling. I can’t recommend a place this unreliable. The bedroom was also too small, and the bathroom door seemed designed for super-slim people. It was only 450mm wide!

For what we paid, I’m satisfied with the stay as a university student. The location is very good, right across from the snow front, and the foosball table and sofa at reception make for a friendly place to hang out. The food wasn’t always great, and the showers in some rooms were only so-so for cleanliness. But at this price, I’m satisfied.

The staff and owner were really friendly, but the hotel is very, very tired and could use a refresh. We came for the skiing rather than to spend time in the room, though.

We’d had a wonderful stay at hotels in the village centre before, but they were full this time, so we wanted to spend the weekend at the Millipede Festival. It turned into a disaster: the showers were dirty, the toilets were dirty, and really nothing was good. We later heard that this “hotel” was supposed to close. That would explain the lack of maintenance.
