Chalet Saint Bernard

The young couple running the place are trying hard to keep Chalet Saint Bernard tidy. The beds were made daily, and towels could be changed on request. They were generally welcoming and helpful. Our room was fairly spacious, with simple wooden decor throughout, but the bathroom only had space for one person. The WC was positioned so you had to press your knees against the wall to sit down. Sorry for those details. The basic shower cubicle had bare concrete walls with no tiles or other finish, which I guess is a design choice. There was no extraction fan, so after all four family members showered, the humidity was 100 percent. Oddly, whoever showered last was unlucky because the hot water ran out. The TV was rather small and supposedly had French and Italian channels, but the aerial signal was too weak to watch. Internet was only available in the common areas, meaning the small dining area and part of the corridor. Breakfast included cereals, some salami and cheese, a selection of hams, honey and breads, plus hot drinks. The biggest surprise was the price. The rates were like a 3 star hotel, but in my opinion this chalet is more like a budget BnB. The website doesn’t give you the whole picture. At those rates, you naturally expect more, and the price didn’t match the chalet’s ambience. All of this would be fine for budget accommodation, but the current rates are definitely not justified.

We had a great stay at this hotel. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and breakfast was great too. It’s super close to the ski tracks. We’ll definitely come back.

The staff were okay, but the place smelled bad and was very cold. With so little to recommend it, the price felt too high. We could find a better hotel for less.

The people were so friendly, the location is perfect near the slopes, and breakfast was very nice.
