The beds were comfortable and the place was clean, and the owner and staff were friendly and talkative. There’s some charm in the impressive building and the tapestries, too. But the price and grand appearance suggest luxury, while the accommodation itself is quite basic and falls short of standards I’d consider a minimum nowadays. The bathrooms feel dated, paint is peeling all over, the Wi-Fi is useless, and breakfast is very basic. For what you get, the value is really poor.

Booking.com’s listing and the room price gave no indication of the extra amount we would be charged. The owner emailed to ask whether we wanted linens and bedding for an extra fee, but never said how much it would be. We also didn’t use half of what was provided, and mentioned that when we left. For linens and bedding for eight people over two days, we were charged $155.71 above the listed room price, even though we had paid for three days and only stayed two. Two days after Booking.com contacted the property about the extra charges, the proprietor put another $220 on my account without authorization. The first unauthorized charge was made two months after our stay and was also more than the agreed price. Beware of hidden charges. I can’t recommend this place and wouldn’t stay again. I’ve spent five years living in Europe and traveled to 24 countries in Europe and North Africa, including five trips to France. Of all the places I’ve stayed on those trips, this was the worst experience, period. The owner’s reply completely misses my complaint.

The location and pool are great, and Pascal is so friendly and always ready to help. We had a lovely time here. If your visit lines up with the local markets, even better, they make for a really fun evening.

If the scale allowed a zero or half a star, that’s what I’d give. This felt like the scam of the century. The actual place looked nothing like the Booking.com photos. We expected to sleep in a château or manor, but our room was in a little building beside the manor, like a horse house. At €240 a night, that felt wildly overpriced. The room was old and in bad taste, with a glittery Tour Eiffel poster. Before we arrived, the owner got in touch about our dog and said it couldn’t weigh more than 7 kilos. The listing didn’t mention that limit when we booked. When we called, he was somewhat rude and complained about previous guests not following the dog rules. We didn’t care about those other guests, but the website should give the correct information so people know before booking. We stayed two nights, and because of the misunderstanding nobody cleaned the room. Fine, but when we asked at least for fresh towels, the owner refused. At €240 a night, being told to hang them up to dry because “everybody manage to do so” was ridiculous. The room was described as having a pool view, but all we could see was an old, ugly trampoline. The Wi-Fi didn’t work in the room at all, so it shouldn’t be listed as an available facility. The bathroom tissue box was empty too, and they never refilled it until our last day. The owner should be more honest about the place and use accurate photos and descriptions. To me this was €240 for a basic camping experience instead of a night in a château. Save your money and stay somewhere else, or you’ll regret it.
