Château De La Resle - membre Design Hotels

The people here were lovely and looked after us so well. We stayed in the Vezelay suite overlooking the pool, and it was thoughtfully designed with just about every piece of equipment you could need. It's a great place for a long weekend, about a 1.5-hour drive from Paris without traffic. One downside: on hot, windless days, little flies get everywhere. It was unavoidable and really annoying, especially when we tried to go jogging on our last day.

The hosts handled a flood and power outage in the area on the night we arrived with real professionalism. The team was friendly, dinner was delicious, and eating with the chef made for a lovely atmosphere. The place is beautiful, tastefully decorated, clean, and very well cared for. The owners have clearly put a lot of heart into it. It feels very international rather than like an authentic French experience, which is simply a matter of taste and didn't affect my rating. Our room had no AC, and with no insect screens on the windows, it was hard to sleep after a hot summer day. Drinks from the minibar and honesty bar seemed pricey. The cheapest honesty bar bottle was 40€, and minibar wine started at 26€ for a half bottle. More affordable options might encourage guests to enjoy a drink there. Wine at dinner was reasonably priced.

A quiet place with just ten rooms and high quality staff. We found it a great first stop after CDG on a driving tour, and it's worth staying there in its own right.

We booked through Mr and Mrs Smith and had a lovely stay. Johan, the owner, was incredibly friendly and did everything he could to make it perfect. The chateau is beautiful, and our room was very spacious and comfortable. Dinner at the hotel was excellent too. It's close to Chablis, which makes it handy for wine tasting and vineyard visits. I'd highly recommend it.
