Les Salamandres, chambres d'hôtes près de Chambord

Behind the gates at Les Salamandres in Montlivault is the prettiest, most picturesque Chambres d'hotes. Maurice and Marcela were so kind and helpful. Maurice had all the information we wanted about the area, and Marcela is a wonderful cook and pastry chef. Thanks for the kindness, music, and conversations. We had a lovely stay!

Our room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed and a shower with good pressure. The location worked perfectly for us, just 10 minutes from Chambord and about an hour’s drive from many other notable chateaus. Maurice speaks excellent English and gave us helpful suggestions for things to do. He also booked a very good local restaurant for our first evening. This was the final stop of our honeymoon, and Maurice and Marcela made us feel at home from the moment we arrived, even welcoming us with local wine. When our plans changed, they were very accommodating and arranged an early breakfast. We were lucky to be there on a Sunday for a delicious home-cooked meal, music, and a memorable evening with the other guests. Couldn’t recommend it more!

We stayed two nights during our cycling holiday, and Maurice made us feel very welcome. On Sunday evening, all the guests ate together at Les salamanders. His wife made an amazing dinner while Maurice sang and kept everyone entertained. Afterward we had an ‘ international boules’ competition, which was great fun. Would recommend.

Maurice has a great sense of humour and a real character. The place is lovely, quiet, and well located. If you get the chance to have dinner there, take it: the food is delicious, and you get to meet the other residents, with live music too. The homemade preserves and cake at breakfast made the whole stay special.
