Campanile NATURE - Montpellier Sud

I booked two nights. The place was generally neat, with white sheets, a tidy bathroom, white towels, and free hand soap and gel. But I hung the door sign asking for the room to be cleaned, and someone just flipped it to “do not disturb”; it wasn’t cleaned at all. The toilet had pee marks when I arrived, so it seems the rooms only get a surface clean. One night might be fine, but the lack of service could get annoying on a longer stay. The receptionist doesn’t speak English either, so complaints seem to fall on deaf ears.

A great place to stay when you’re just passing through.

100 euro for this room? Shame on you. I trusted the average ratings, never again. There were no towels, so I had to ask for them. A 3stars hotel without a phone? Back to the stone age. The room smelled terribly of smoke even though I booked non smoking, and it was about the size of a room by hours. If it costs over 60, stay away.

This is an average old travel hotel, probably better if you’re driving than travelling backpacker-style. There are supermarkets and fast-food places nearby, including Lidl. The room was too small for two people in separate beds, and the AC never quite cooled it down. Breakfast looked good, though we didn’t try it.
