Citadines Antigone Montpellier

I booked 14 nights and ended up staying none of them. Both rooms were unclean: the first had stains and hair on the bedsheets, and the second smelled of cigarettes and also had hair on its sheets. The staff were attentive and tried to help, but I chose somewhere else in Montpellier.

The hotel is well placed for walking to the old town and city center, as well as the many good restaurants in the Antigone Quarter, which is worth exploring. For anyone traveling through by car, I think it's a good choice. We had a regular ground-floor room for one night. It was clean and mostly functional, but quite worn and a little dark, and didn't look much like the nice online pictures. The breakfast was really nice for €12 per person, with plenty to choose from, including freshly squeezed orange juice. Tea, coffee, and water were available free in the lobby at all times, and the reception staff were quite friendly. There's also a parking garage for €12 a day.

There's an underground parking space, and a tram stop right outside the front door, though we walked everywhere. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Our room was a little more worn than the photos suggested, but everything worked fine. It had a full kitchen with a dishwasher, oven, microwave, and more. I'd recommend the place for either a short or long stay.

The booking turned into a mess. A mistake put our reservation in the wrong month, and we only found out at reception. Although the hotel had rooms available, the staff wouldn't change the dates or help resolve it, so I had to pay again on the spot for the right night. After paying there, I tried to cancel the incorrect dates, but was charged a 100% penalty even though check-in was still two full months away. Other hotels allow cancellations without a problem, even just days beforehand. I have serious concerns about booking through Booking.com. The room itself was disgusting and didn't deserve one star, though I paid what a five-star hotel costs. It smelled terribly of cigarettes, and it felt as if a family from Somalia had lived there for five years before us. The floor was old and worn, the furniture outdated and awful, and everything in the kitchen was so repulsive we couldn't use it. The hotel also looked nothing like its online photos. I'll never stay at any of your hotels again.
