Eklo Hotels Montpellier Centre Gare

The location is fantastic, right in the center, and the hotel is clean with comfortable beds. There aren’t many extras, and the rooms are very small, even the more expensive family room. It could suit single or younger travelers well, but a family would find it cramped. They also didn’t seem prepared for babies. We paid for a cot, but there wasn’t one when we arrived. It was brought later, without a mattress, sheets, or other linens. Staff were generally friendly, but seemed a bit put out when we asked for a sheet. Our baby couldn’t sleep on the hard base of a well-used cot without a clean sheet, so we used an adult sheet instead. It left us feeling like we might have been among the first guests to stay there with a baby. At other places in France, fresh cot sheets were provided without anyone being surprised we’d asked. I’d recommend this for a simple stay for young, solo, or couple travelers who don’t need extras, but probably not for families.

I was pleasantly surprised by Eklo Montpellier, and the stay went beyond what I expected. It’s a cool place with a warm feel, right in the heart of the city, and calling it just a hotel feels a bit limiting. The shared rooms are laid out really well. There’s an on-site restaurant and bar, a large terrace, and a coworking space. They also have nighttime events like DJ sets, comedy shows, and karaoke. It’s right opposite Gare Saint Roch and close to Place de la Comédie, the main city square. Nothing to complain about.

The place has more of a hotel feel, which I liked, and the location is good. From outside, it wasn’t obvious that the entrance is inside the restaurant. I felt safe, though the lift is near the entrance, so someone could potentially go up to the halls. Rooms were tidy, but the showers could use an upgrade. The restaurant by reception is nice and has a good menu, though it’s fairly expensive for what you get. Staff were mostly nice, but a few felt a bit cold. A good option for a few days.

The atmosphere was great, with really good vibes, and I loved the view. Rooms are fantastic, and the bar is sweet too. I really enjoyed staying here.
