Hôtel MISTRAL Comédie Saint Roch

We were very happy with our stay. The room was good value, and the location worked really well, close to place de la Comedie and the station while still being quiet.

We paid a budget price and got what we expected from a no frills hotel, so I have no complaints. Check in and check out were quick, and the location just by place de la comédie is very good. I'd stay again if we found another deal. The photos did match the room, as far as I could tell, as long as you look at the one for the room type you want.

The room was already a letdown before breakfast. There were only two bath towels and two hand towels for the three of us in a room for four. The buffet was laughably sparse: empty cereal containers, except for a little oatmeal in one, and no milk. There was some tea, a juice dispenser and a coffee machine, but the coffee wasn't good. We were given a croissant and a bun at the table, then half a baguette each, apparently in response to an older complaint about there not being enough food. The bread was dry and leathery, like it had been sitting out for a day. We had no plates for it, so we used a mug coaster. The glasses had dried orange pulp stuck to the sides and juice at the bottom, and even the knives still had butter on them. The cleaning elsewhere was awful too. The small bathroom had hair, cobwebs and dust, plus black mold in a shower corner. The floor and carpets were dusty and full of hair, and there were stains on the walls and shower curtain. The bed was a bit uncomfortable, but that would have been easy to overlook if the room had been clean. The online photos also seem photoshopped to make the rooms look bright and warm when they aren't. We had a car, and the hotel's advertised parking service felt like a marketing stunt. It sent us to a public parking house about a 10-minute walk away, through an abandoned mall, with luggage to carry. After breakfast we just wanted to leave, but even then we had to spend 10 minutes convincing someone at the parking house that we'd paid through the hotel. We had the receipt and everything. We stayed one night, a year ago, or maybe only six months ago, and I'm writing now because the owner has been replying to negative reviews with what seem like threatening comments and guesses about who wrote them, presumably to get people to delete their reviews. I've kept a list of complaints and photos to back them up. The whole stay left us wanting to get out as fast as possible. Do not come here, it's not worth it. The owner can reply if he likes, but what I've written is true, and I haven't exaggerated.

The room was a nightmare, and the elevator felt like a scary adventure. Our room was right beside it, in what seemed to be a closet. There was a window, but opening the curtains only revealed the AC unit. Why have a window with no view at all? This is a hotel I'll remember for all the wrong reasons. Less than one star, and I won't stay here again.
