JOST Hotel Montpellier Centre St Roch

The shared spaces and design made the strongest impression. It’s a modern, lively hotel, well placed near both the train station and city center. The rooms are clean and tidy, though often quite small, so I’d say it suits a short stay best. Noise and occasional crowds might bother light sleepers.

I spent four nights at Jost in Montpellier at the end of December, traveling solo as a mature guest. The dorm beds are roomy and comfortable, with good blackout curtains, working plugs, and mattresses that let me sleep well. I’ve had good sleep at Jost locations before, and this was no exception. The staff are friendly and helpful, and I felt it was a safe place to stay. The guest kitchen was messy when I arrived, though it was the holiday season. I mentioned it and they sorted it out right away. There weren’t many dishes or pieces of cutlery available. It’s a few minutes’ walk from the train station on an easy route, with a good grocery store nearby. Town is about a 15 minute walk away, and trams are close too.

The place was spotless, and my standard room stay went smoothly. I’d read some reviews that made me worry, especially about cleanliness, but my own experience was completely different. Either those earlier reviews weren’t accurate, or the hotel has listened and made changes. The staff were attentive, very helpful, and friendly. It’s right in the center, and I was happy with everything. I’d definitely recommend it.

My experience was awful, and I can’t recommend this place. I’d booked a private room for €78 and brought my own breakfast, asking only for hot water for tea at the breakfast buffet. They refused and directed me to the kitchen upstairs. There wasn’t a cup, toaster, or any way to heat water there, and it was all very dirty. It felt like they were trying to make guests pay for breakfast.
