Privilège Hôtel & Apparts Eurociel Centre Comédie

We could walk to Place de la Comédie, parks, and museums without much trouble. The hotel is only slightly out of the way, though the neighbourhood felt a bit unsafe after dark. We hardly saw anyone on our walks back each day. The staff were genuinely lovely and helpful. They held our luggage, pointed us to nearby laundromats, and greeted us whenever we came back. We’re bad Canadians, sorry, but everyone spoke enough English to help. Our room had lots of space and big windows, with a bright Greece theme. The rooms have been modernized, and would have been really nice if the cleaning had been better. There’s a large lobby with comfy chairs and a pool table, too. We stayed in mostly “3 star” hotels on this trip, and this was the only one that actually felt like three stars. I hate taking stars off because the staff were so nice, but our room needed a deep clean. The carpet was really dusty and dirty around the walls, the bathroom fan had big dust bunnies, and the windowsill had mould spots. I know it was rainy season and that can happen, but a quick wipe would have taken care of it. The rainfall shower also sprayed sideways at your face when you tried to get in, apparently from calcium buildup.

The hotel is close to everything, so it could work well for a night or two, as long as you don’t expect much. The staff were responsive at first, but when we wanted to warm up pizza, the older man at reception treated us badly. He said they couldn’t heat the slices and that I should have brought a plate when I bought the pizza. He wouldn’t suggest any solution, which I’ve never experienced at another hotel. I was disappointed, especially for an international hotel where the service should be better. Breakfast was mediocre, with little taste or flavour and lots of missing items. I expected better from a 3-star hotel. The cleanliness was poor too, with stains on both the sheets and towels.

The air-conditioned room had all the conveniences, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The decor has an 80s look, but it was well maintained and seemed new. Along with the EU-focused theme, that gave the place a distinctive feel.

They let us leave our car in the parking lot while we explored the city. The room was clean, and the staff were friendly.
