Villa Bellagio Montpellier

Our suite was clean, but far too hot at night, and there was no way for us to control the air conditioning. The hotel advertises free tea and coffee, but that’s only in the foyer; there was none in the room. There aren’t any bicycle facilities either, though the host kindly let us keep our bikes in the room. Thanks!

We had a bed to sleep in, so I gave it one star, but that was about the only good thing. The room was bare, dated, and smelled as if someone had been smoking in it. The bathroom was old and neglected, though strangely the vanity was new. Check-in took more than half an hour. The receptionist didn’t speak English and had to use his phone to translate, but at least he tried. A sad experience. We won’t be back.

The rooms are comfortable and welcoming, with enough space to move around, good light, automatic blinds, a TV, Wi-Fi, and a bathroom with the basics. There’s also a small garden by reception that’s comfortable for relaxing if you have time. The reception area is small but does the job, while the hotel itself is nothing special, especially the corridors on the second and third levels. It’s a good option for the comfort and price. Villa Bellagio Hotel is north of the city centre, though a bit far from where the fun is. There’s a shop and restaurant about five minutes away on foot, and the metro station is another ten minutes’ walk.

A really nice place to stay for a few days. The breakfast wasn’t up to the mark, though. They should include it in the room price :)
