The breakfast was top-notch, and there are two restaurants close by. I was there for work, but it was fascinating to see hikers heading toward Santiago de Compostela. The hosts are clearly well prepared for pilgrims, even having their own house pilgrimage stamp. The house is just a minute's walk, about 100m, from the main square in this picturesque village. If you're looking for a beautiful place to stay in Montréal, France, this is it.

Edith, the owner, was delightful and warmly helped with every request. She also cooks at the restaurant next door, where we had one of the best meals of our whole pilgrimage. In the morning, she had made us a delicious breakfast and left the kitchen for us to use. We felt genuinely welcomed and cared for at Victorian Lodge. The guesthouse is peaceful, beautifully decorated, and right in the heart of Montréal. Our room was spacious and elegant, with every comfort thoughtfully provided. Thank you for a truly wonderful stay.

The rooms and furniture are lovely, and Victoria Lodge is a beautiful old house. But several advertised facilities weren't available, including a washing machine, coffee shop, and snack bar. The on-site 'kitchen' also seemed to be just for staff. We were told that dinner would be at 7pm, although we hadn't asked for it. The local restaurant delivered the meal, and an extra 27€ per person was added to the bill. Three separate groups were staying that night, and none of us had requested dinner or been told the menu or price beforehand. Other, more affordable restaurants were open in town, but after being told dinner would be served at 7pm, we felt obliged to stay. Perhaps there was a communication mistake, but none of us had received the price or menu in advance. We also weren't told about the laundry service, which requires advance notice. We had been counting on the washing machine listed as a room facility. It's a lovely hotel, and clearer, current information on the website and from the staff about facilities, services, and costs could make it a really great place to stay.

There was no hot water in our room, so after a hot day on the Camino we couldn't shower. When I pointed it out, asked if it could be fixed, and then asked about a reduced rate the next day, the host seemed indifferent. She just didn't seem to care. The room itself was lovely, and so was the lodge in the middle of old Montréal.

A simple room with a bed and shower was all I needed, and I got that plus a television, which was a nice extra. The price was excellent, and I have no complaints. Breakfast had no coffee, but the croissant, yoghurt, orange juice, and green tea set me up well for the day. It was clean, a little basic, and could use some redecoration. Just what I needed. Aye. Thank you. Fraser.
