My 92-year-old grandfather was coming home from the hospital and was understandably disoriented. Rather than helping him through a difficult period, the facility chose to discharge him and gave him only one week to leave. This experience showed a glaring gap between its marketing claims and what actually happened. It feels as though the place is meant only for young, fully independent retirees. When an older person shows even slight frailty, the kind of situation this sort of facility should be able to support, it doesn’t provide adequate help. To me, it seems to operate mainly as a business, far removed from truly supporting vulnerable seniors.

We were sold a dream to get my father-in-law into Domitys, but my experience has been very different. We pay a flat fee for cleaning, and activities are included, yet staff have made no effort to help him join the community. Nobody tells him when activities are happening. Snacks are supposed to be served until 5 p.m., but by 4:45 there’s no service left. The cleaning is sloppy, sometimes not done at all. They take care of you when you come to sign the contract, then seem to have no time for you once you’re under contract. Is that really fair? The price is very high and the service is terrible. It’s a very prolific money machine. That’s what I think of Domitys, based on experience.

Oh wow, how do I even put it? Just perfect! We came to visit our grandma, and I had my two kids with me. They were treated like princes. Even though the staff were busy and short on time, they still made a point of chatting with us, especially the kids! We were welcomed so warmly, the food was great, and the servers were just lovely. There’s also a pool the family can use, which was great. We’d do it again!
