Ferme de La Haye

Mia, the dog, is the princess of the house 😊. The owners are warm and always ready to help, and all the thoughtful little touches feel completely natural. It’s a lovely spot with plenty of charm and history, away from the busy tourist areas.

The room was beautiful, with decor that mixes English style and Norman vintage. Breakfast was plentiful and excellent. Set in a magnificent clearing in the middle of the forest, the farm feels like a real gem. The owners are very attentive, happy to suggest must-see places and tell you about the farm’s history. I highly recommend it!

The dirt road to get there is quite limited and not very easy to drive on, which is my one criticism. Once there, though, it’s isolated and quiet, surrounded by nature, with a great view and pleasant forest hikes nearby. The owners I met outside the guesthouse were as friendly as could be.

We only stayed one night, but the owners’ warm, kind welcome late at night has stayed with me. We’d booked in a hurry as a convenient final stop in Normandy on our European trip before the airport, yet the visit left a lasting impression. In the morning, they’d prepared a delicious English breakfast with such care. We had to eat quickly because of time, and also enjoyed a cup of tea by the warm fireplace. I’d definitely like to come back. You’ll need a car to get there, and be prepared for dark, narrow roads with some unpaved stretches.
