Hotel La Kinkerne

It’s in a great location, with easy access to Morzine by bus and Avoriaz by gondola, just a 5 minute walk away. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are cleaned daily.

We paid in full for a group booking for twelve and received written confirmation. A month later, the property abruptly cancelled, saying a previous guest had re-booked last year and they hadn’t updated the calendar. When I contacted them, they admitted the mistake but offered no help finding another place. By then, comparable accommodation in Morzine was either fully booked or more than double the price. Twelve of us were left scrambling to salvage a trip with flights paid and plans set. A simple apology doesn’t restore a holiday or replace thousands of pounds lost. This was astonishingly poor organisation for a professional accommodation provider. It wasn’t weather, a system glitch or an act of God, it was pure mismanagement. A confirmed booking apparently means very little here. Reliability and professionalism matter as much as comfort, and this property failed on both counts.

The owners were friendly and looked after us well. They also answered a couple of questions before the trip very quickly. Our rooms were comfortable, warm and cleaned each day, and each room has a ski locker at the side of the hotel. We had our own boots and rented skis online from Sport 2000 Prodains Sports, just a two minute walk away. The hotel is ideally placed, a few minutes on foot from the Prodains Express cable car, ski rental, local restaurants and the free bus to and from Morzine. Private parking out front was handy. For €14 each, breakfast was good and continental style, with fruit juice, coffee, hot chocolate and more. Our flight from the UK didn’t get into Geneva until 22:30, but we had clear instructions about where to find the keys. The drive from Geneva took around 1 hour 20 mins in our rental car. Highly recommended.

We booked the apartment plus a couple of extra rooms, and it was quite lovely. The apartment had two double bedrooms, a shower room, a separate toilet, and an open plan kitchen, dining and living space with a sofa bed. There were also two balconies overlooking the mountains. It came with a microwave, fridge, stove, plenty of utensils, cutlery, plates and cups, plus some salt and sugar. The hotel was very close to the cable car for skiing and right beside the free bus stop to the town centre. The owner was very friendly and helped whenever we needed, though he spoke only French, so there was a language barrier. It got quite cold at times, and there were no thermostats around. The triple and double rooms we booked outside the apartment were quite small, so bear that in mind.
