La Charretterie

Nathalie and Bruno were thoughtful hosts, happy to help with local information and genuinely keen to make sure we were comfortable. We only booked because we had an earlier ferry the next day, but liked it so much that we expect to return on a future trip to the UK. The house sits in a quiet Normandy village and has been tastefully renovated. Our spacious room was spotless, with a comfortable wide bed, two armchairs, and nice touches like a little welcome board and easel. The modern bathroom had plenty of room, and the room also came with slippers, water, a kettle, tea, coffee, and biscuits. Breakfast was a generous continental spread with fruit, yogurt, homemade jams and cakes, plus excellent bread and croissants. I can't recommend La Charretterie highly enough.

I'd avoid staying here. The owners weren't friendly or willing to help, and turned down simple requests for an iron and a later checkout. They don't seem to have hotel or customer service experience, just spare rooms in their home. Stay away.

We stayed for six nights. The accommodation was brilliant, the breakfasts enjoyable, and our hosts were pleasant. One of them is an artist too.

The beds were comfortable, and breakfast was tasty with something different each morning.
