Chambre d'hôtes Le Moulin de Moulis

The house is very pretty and the welcome was fairly friendly, but the stay was a huge disappointment. We arrived to find other guests in the room we'd booked. The owner said we'd move into it the following day, but didn't offer it then, even though we were only staying two nights. Instead, we had a small room with twin beds rather than the double we'd reserved. The bathroom fan was very noisy, the bathroom had no door, and there was no storage or even a coat hook. We couldn't lock the room, the 4G signal was very weak, and the Wi-Fi didn't work properly. Worst of all, there was a strong sewage smell day and night. It made sense that the owners had shown us this replacement room with the patio door wide open. A booking mix-up can happen, but the alternative should still meet a decent standard. This one fell far short. I'm posting late because I was so shocked by the service at the time that I didn't get around to writing a review.

At Le Moulin, we felt right at home. The owners were so attentive and gave us great information about the region, and Gigi and Simon, their two four-legged friends, are adorable. We loved the spacious room, modern bathroom, and breakfast with our charming host. What a lovely discovery, a peaceful, welcoming place. Thank you! Jan and Caroline from Belgium :-)

We spent three days here with our dog during the heatwave and loved this cool, peaceful retreat. Pascal and Jean-Claude were discreet, efficient hosts. The restored former mill feels like a warm family home, with tasteful decor throughout. Our Cocteau room was serene and comfortable, overlooking the small river. It had a generous bed with high-end bedding on a platform, tasteful furnishings, and four corner windows that brought in lovely light. The bathroom is open to the bedroom but tucked into a recess. It has a large walk-in Italian shower, a wall-hung toilet, and a retro basin on a Doric column, with metro-style tiles. The layout keeps the rooms peaceful. The breakfast room is a highlight: it spans the millrace, and you can see the waterfall through a glass partition framed by lemon trees and lush plants. A large glass roof brightens the space, with a beautiful table d'hôtes in the middle. The masks and sculptures give it the feeling of an annex to the Quai Branly Museum. There's also a large library lounge, generous kitchen, and upstairs bedrooms. Outside, a long drive passes through an ornate gate to shaded parking by a bamboo grove. A gravel path leads to a welcoming terrace, furnished with old wrought iron benches, armchairs, and chairs with thick cushions around a convivial table. A beautiful place.

We could hear the water running from our pleasant room. The host was very kind, and the breakfast room is lovely, with a view straight out to the river.
