Hôtel Restaurant le Welcome

I wouldn't stay here again. I left a pair of Airpods in my room a few weeks ago and have contacted the hotel several times, including a follow-up after they didn't reply. I still haven't heard anything. Losing something is frustrating, and being ignored made it worse. I'm incredibly disappointed with how this was handled.

The rooms have recently been refurbished to a very high standard, so if you've stayed here before, as we had, you may be pleasantly surprised. We were impressed with Cit'Hôtel le Welcome on our way to a ski holiday in Val Thorens. We found parking right outside, and the host was friendly and accommodating.

The location is good if you're without a car, but I'd strongly recommend booking somewhere else if you can. At 8h30 AM there was still nobody at the front desk, so I left the key and went without calling. The room didn't look like the booking photo, and the bathroom was rusty and not very clean. The sheets were very itchy. At 72€ a night with no breakfast included, that felt absurd. I had also asked for extra pillows when they messaged to ask about requests, but they weren't provided. Check-in was a hassle too. The desk was unattended, so entry depended on a machine that required card payment and wouldn't take cash or contactless payment. I only had my cards on my phone, so I couldn't use it. I called the man, who wasn't very friendly, and he eventually told me to get the key without paying. That still didn't give me the outside door code, so I couldn't get into the hotel.

An interesting town, excellent food, and a great hotel.
