The Originals Access, Hôtel Mulhouse Est

The worst part was the really bad smell in the entrance and corridors. I hope the property fixes it soon, because it’s quite unacceptable for a three-star hotel. We stayed three nights to visit Colmar and the surrounding cities. The location is okay, about 40 minutes from Colmar and the other places of interest. Inside, the hotel feels a bit old. Our room was very basic, with a French bed that may be a little small for two, though it was comfortable. The bathroom also looked very old, but was okay. For what you pay, the stay was average.

We chose to eat at the hotel, but after waiting two hours for burgers and chips, we gave up and told the staff we weren’t willing to wait any longer. We hope breakfast goes better. If the meal had arrived in a reasonable time, I would have given a better score. The staff have been helpful, the room suits us, and the air conditioning works fine. A couple of things need attention: the bathroom sink plug is missing, and the shelf beside the bed has broken off.

The room was small but clean, and the bathroom was clean too. For the price, it’s good value, and the man at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. It’s very convenient for the Autostrada. There was only a double bed, which felt a bit hard and bouncy, and the pillows were very thin. I’d eat somewhere else: the restaurant was overpriced rubbish, just a couple of small hot dog sausages with coleslaw. I’d think twice before staying here again.

The rooms seem okay for the price, but dinner was one of the worst meals I’ve had in a long time. I waited 30 minutes for an overcooked slab of fish with watery white sauce, and the pasta I ordered alongside it came dry in a separate bowl with no sauce. That was all, no vegetables or anything else. I only noticed too late that there seems to be a good Italian restaurant within walking distance. Go there if you can.
