La Cabanne

I picked Auberge de la Cabanne for another stay in the Sancy mountains after my course instructor told me she couldn’t find a nice place to rent near her in La Bourboule. She’d mentioned a studio beneath her home, but it was already booked. Coming back here turned out to be a lovely choice. Paule and Stéphane are so welcoming, and the rooms are clean, comfortable, and peaceful. I slept to the quiet of nature and woke up to a view that felt like a reset. The lake is only a short walk away, with beautiful scenery all around. After a long day, the kind words, smiles, and generous, fragrant food were especially comforting. The price felt excellent for what you get, and I left already wanting to come back.

The meal was delicious and very reasonably priced, and the hosts were both friendly and professional. I loved discovering this welcoming place with its wonderful mountain views. I’ll happily recommend it and would definitely come back.

The staff were friendly, and the area around the restaurant is lovely. The food was quite good too, though the cleanliness needs some attention: the tablecloth had crumbs and stains, and the toilets weren't clean.

The basement games room, with its pool table and other things, is a real plus for me. The place is quiet, and the rooms are priced very reasonably compared with other places. I've been staying here on and off for 20 years and have never been disappointed. The owners who took over three years ago are very friendly, and the meals are excellent. Keep it up, it's perfect.
