Hôtel Domaine Langmatt

The pool and jacuzzi were really nice, and breakfast was good. The owner is doing his best, but the place badly needs a proper renovation. It's been unchanged for a long time, and cleanliness could be better. We booked a double room but got two single beds that couldn't be joined, and the building next door still wasn't finished, which was a shame. It's very peaceful, surrounded by forest and great for walks. There's no mobile service at all, just Wi-Fi, though you can use a phone at reception for free. The hotel could be a fantastic resort with a major refresh.

The setting is peaceful and lovely, and although some facilities are dated, you can tell they're cared for with affection. The atmosphere is old-fashioned, but the owner, his son, grandson, and the rest of the family made us feel incredibly welcome. We really enjoyed the restaurant meals and breakfast. My three-year-old was served the same dishes as us for the children's menu price, and the owner's grandson and two lovely waitresses took such good care of him. Our dog got plenty of attention too. If your dog is comfortable around other dogs, this place feels like a little paradise, since nearly all the other guests had dogs. We'll definitely come back!

We had a very enjoyable stay, especially as a group of 15. A more luxurious hotel would have cost more, and we couldn't have asked for better value for money. The setting is secluded in the forest and ideal for walks. The hotel is a little dated, though the bathrooms are modern. The beds were comfortable, the staff very friendly, and it was quiet. The elderly owner does what he can and is very accommodating. Some people say it doesn't merit its star rating, but for the price, we were very happy.

The generous breakfast was high quality, and dinner was a chance to enjoy delicious regional food at an unhurried pace. The manager is older, but warm and attentive, and took time to talk and listen. This isn't a place for anyone in a rush. Tucked into the Murbach Valley, the hotel feels like time has stood still, blending old-world charm with modern amenities. Even the drive there is an adventure. There's no cell service, but the Wi-Fi makes up for it. A very peaceful place to relax.
