Auberge de Pen Mur

The price was way too high for what we got. The bed frame was old, with springs, and the linens didn’t feel clean enough. It was also unbearably hot in the room, with no proper way to air it out. On top of that, the hallways smelled strongly of stale tobacco and the whole place felt very dated. It doesn’t deserve three stars.

There’s just one dish and no choice, so if you don’t like it, you go without eating. A dog wanders between the kitchen, dining room, and bar, and even the owners wear down jackets while serving because there’s no heating. The upper floors smell of cold tobacco, and the entrance hall is musty. I’ll spare you the rooms. Avoid the place. One star only because zero isn’t an option.

I've stayed in plenty of hotels for work, including some that weren't very comfortable, but this was the worst. I left after half an hour because I couldn't imagine getting into the bed. The sheets were torn and the pillows ripped, and I'd never seen anything like the black mold covering the walls. The smell of mold hit as soon as I came in and was even worse in the rooms. I can only imagine what the kitchen where they cook our meals must be like. Avoid this place at all costs.
