We nearly drove past this modest little place, which would’ve been a mistake. Lunch on the pleasant terrace was excellent, with friendly, professional service. The €29.95 three-course price didn’t sound promising at first, but Chez Chastrusse delivers well beyond what you might expect.

The welcome was warm and the service friendly. There’s a lovely range of dishes on the menu and a great wine list. We had lunch and would happily come back.

We stayed two nights and slept very well after riding 400 miles on the motorbike. The food was good, and it’s worth the effort to get there. One small drawback for an early start is that breakfast begins at 08.00. Also, use the GPS coordinates. My Garmin sent me the wrong way!

The outdoor seating made for a lovely atmosphere, and the portions were generous, so bring your appetite. I’d say it’s worth the trip to Nadaillac. The service was charming and attentive, and the food was the best meal I’ve had in France so far. The escargot were perfect, and the salmon was crisp without being overcooked. Try the regional aperitif made with a red wine base.

We paid 125 euros for a meal for three with wine, so it wasn’t cheap, but it was still worth it. A fine example of a charming French country hotel and restaurant, and the meal was excellent.
